Loving Our Bodies Through Every Season

Winter can be rough on our bodies and our minds. When the days are colder, darker, and spent mostly indoors, finding enough movement throughout the day can feel really challenging. The routines that once felt easy shift, and sometimes our energy and motivation shift right along with them.

When we’re used to daily walks, running around outside, playing tag, and just moving our bodies naturally, being stuck indoors changes things. Our bodies feel different. Our energy feels different. And that can bring up a lot of feelings - for our kids and for us.

That’s why I’m really trying to stay consistent with a little workout plan for my kids right now, because if I’m being honest, everyone in our house needs a little push to get us moving.

Through all of this, what I want my kids to learn (and what I’m constantly reminding myself) is that our bodies will change so many times throughout our lives. And we can still love them through every season.
Be kind. Be helpful. Be a good human.

Who you are on the inside - your heart, your authenticity - that part doesn’t go away. And when you stay true to that, your body will always support you in the ways it can.

The workout plan that works for us:

Warm-Up (5 min):

  • March in place

  • Arm circles

  • Jumping jacks

  • Wiggle shake-out!

Strength + Movement (15 min):

  • 10 frog jumps

  • 10 push-ups (on knees if needed)

  • 10 squats

  • 10 mountain climbers

  • 20-second plank hold
(Repeat circuit twice with water breaks!)

Cool Down (3 min):

  • Deep breathing (smell the flower, blow out the candle)

  • Doing a fun yoga pose each week (dragon, deer, downward dog, butterfly)

  • Stretch arms, legs, touch toes

  • End with an affirmation:
“My body is strong. My body is mine. I’m proud of me.”

Move when you can. Rest when you need to.
And most importantly - love yourself through every season.
